Urbanscapes 2014

Urbanscapes is Malaysia's biggest creative arts festival which takes place yearly. This year, it was held on Genting Highlands. Genting Highlands is a mountain thus the temperature was cool & the view was absolutely magnifying. Because Malaysia is on the equator, we're used to concerts & festivals under the boiling hot sun. This year, the festival was a lot more cooler & peaceful. I absolutely enjoyed my day.

The main reason why I attended Urbanscapes was to catch Kimbra. My best friend is a huge fan and wanted to be in the front row so we waited at the main stage 3 hours before her set began. Kimbra was set to perform at 9:30p.m. but we waited at the stage since 6 so we got to watch The Lemonheads & Local Natives live as well.

I have to admit, I have never heard of Local Natives before Urbanscapes but their performance was so memorable & they looked like they were having a blast! At one point, Taylor jumped down into the crowd, sang & had fun along with us before the security guards carried him back to the stage. I ended up having one of their song stuck in my head after the festival which led me to download their album.

The Local Natives' set ended around 8:45-ish Kimbra's set was delayed by 10-20 minutes therefor we had around an hour to spare. Whilst waiting, it started raining cats and dogs. Everyone was taking out their ponchos and jackets trying to save their hair from getting wet. At that point, I was feeling the whole festival vibe and decided to stand in the rain without any coverage. My mascara was all over the place and I was soaked to the skin but didnt care anymore because I was having fun. At this time, my friends and I managed to get right the best seats in the house- front and centre because the people in front of us let us take their place.
Kimbra's performance was outstanding. Without a shadow of a doubt. She sounds like an absolute goddess live and looked marvelous. Unlike many artists, she dances around on stage, makes silly faces as an opportunity for the media to get photos and becomes 100% herself, like Lorde. Theres something about Kiwi's that make them so remarkable.

She opened her set with Teen Heat and I went crazy. I was screaming and dancing and honestly didnt care about looking like an insane person. At the end of Teen Heat, she was at the centre of the stage and saw me dancing like an idiot. I pointed at her and she did the same. We had a moment as she sang 'tag ourselves to the heat of the moment'.

Overall, I enjoyed my day at Urbanscapes and cant wait for next year!

Past + Upcoming Europe Trip

I've been to London & Austria two years ago. It was my first time going out of Asia and I was beyond excited. I spent 2 and a half weeks in Austria skiing and spending time with some friends. I got the opportunity to spend New Years 2013 there on top of the mountain and got the most amazing view of Tyrol (is it spelt Tirol or Tyrol? Google says both) and all the fireworks lighting up from down below. As my mothers birthday falls on January 1st, a lovely man named Thomas who was our hotel manager, organized a private fireworks display just for my mother. It was an amazing experience.

After two and a half weeks of skiing & eating Wiener Schnitzels almost everyday, we headed to London for 5 days. With the limited time, we didnt get to do much. I mostly spent my time shopping, hopping into different cafes and stalking one direction. Yes, I know. Weird. Creepy. Shouldn't do that. But hey, at least I got to meet Harry! I didn't get a proper photo with him but I got papped with him which in my eyes, is even cooler. Papped with Harry Styles! Not lots of people get to say they've done that. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do touristy things like visit Big Ben, the London Eye, Winter Wonderland, etc but fair enough; the whole 5 days I was in London, the weather was superb! Didn't rain at all and the sun was shining everyday.

Kisses,

Goofy Introduction

Hey, internet! Welcome to my blog.

Because my exams just ended (finally!) I decided to start a blog! First things first, why don’t you get to know me. I go by the name of Bianca. I was born and raised in the heart of Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur.

First thing that comes to your mind, “where is that?”. Well heres a little bit you’d probably be interested to know about us. We’re placed in Southeast Asia. Though our country is extremely small, we’re well known thanks to the unity among races in our country. We call ourselves Malaysians. A mixture of mostly Malay, Chinese & Indians but we also have a fair amount of other races. Other than that, we happen to have the 9th tallest building in the world & our airport was voted the best in the world three times! The more you know.

Moving on from my country, more about me. I’m currently studying in high school as a junior, graduating in 2 years. I hope to study Business Marketing in college as I aspire to be a successful business woman.  I hope to live in Brighton when I’m older as in my eyes, one of the most beautiful places in the world. I love drawing and I’m the least sportiest person you’ll ever meet. As for now, I’m coming to the end of this sorta get to know me post. I imagine to blog about everything from fashion week to gourmet festivals & I hope you’ll be around to read about whats going on!

Kisses,
B ♡
